THE GOOD NEWS

by Mike Sanchez

Many years back, our Feast Builder asked if I could lead the Wednesday Feast Media team.

There was uncertainty in my response. I felt I was a very “young Christian” to be entrusted with such a big responsibility. I told him I don’t have any experience in marketing and promotions, hoping this would discourage him. But it didn’t seem to bother him.

He persisted and I eventually accepted the post.

Looking back from my experience, here’s what I’ve learned:

Effective ministry service is rarely about one’s strength. It’s about God’s.

By admitting, “I cannot do this on my own,” we provide room for God to work on our weakness.

There will always be a gap in our capability versus what any job requires. The gap is a call to learn, to be a team- player, to accept help, and to trust. This is not something to be feared.

Look at the story of the first disciples of Jesus. These men are proof that God does not call the equipped. God equips those He called.

Ministry work does not rest on the servant’s shoulders alone, but on the grace of God who provides everything we need to accomplish the work.

It’s been many years since I accepted the mission to spread the gospel, the good news, the story of Jesus. ‘Till now, my heart longs that many people will open their hearts to God and experience the same love I experienced.

REFLECTION: Think for a moment and ask God, “How do you want to use me? What prevents me from saying ‘YES’ to your call?”
