When my siblings and I were young, my mom once saw a friend buying cake from a bakeshop.
โ she asked.
My mom was surprised. โ Though the phrase โ๐ด๐ข๐ฏ๐ข ๐ข๐ญ๐ญโ did not exist then, that was exactly how she felt.
Our parents worked hard to make ends meet and provide for their five children. Growing up, we experienced very few luxuries because they prioritized sending us to good schools. They often told us that education was the only inheritance they could give us.
Through their hard work and Godโs providence, all of us have graduated, have families of our own, and live comfortable lives.
Every Sunday, we gather for family dinner with our spouses and children. From time to time, my mom buys cake for dessert even when there is no special occasion. It may seem simple, but to me, it is a reminder of Godโs goodness presently enjoyed not only by us, but also by her grandchildren.
We witnessed not only our parentsโ sacrifices in raising us but also how they devoted their lives in serving the Lord. Beyond the gift of education, their faith and service to the Lord are treasures far more valuable than any material inheritance. These are the legacies they would pass on, not only to their children, but also to their grandchildren and the generations that will follow.
