CAR KEYS

by: Charm Dogma

We were riding via carpool set-up. Seven of us joined together and rode in two cars, one of which was mine. One of us drove my car instead. On our way home, we stopped to dine in a fast food restaurant. On our way back to the parking lot, the other group went to their car. We started to say our goodbyes. Our friend who was driving my car went straight towards it. My car remote was not working, so he started to manually turn the driver’s door keys.
He nervously called me. “I can’t open your car”.
My cheerful face turned serious. I went to the door and tried my luck.
I also can’t open it.
“What if we try opening the trunk?”
It didn’t work.
Several scenarios were already nervously running through my mind when one of them blurted out “Is this even your car?”
I looked down. IT IS NOT.
We were laughing so hard on our way to my car, parked a bit further, blocked by a large car parked in between.
Sometimes, our lives play a joke on us. A romantic relationship, a high-paying job, or an “answered prayer” “looks” like it is for us. But it is not ours to keep, no matter how we force ourselves to it.
Keep the faith. Our “car” is waiting.
