βJust waiting for things to normalize.β Thatβs what we say most of the time. But the sad part is that things donβt. After one problem or crisis, another one comes along, and the things we planned to do never materialize.
Itβs like saying I will exercise when I have the time, or I will start saving when I have that extra cash. But unfortunately, it seldom happens, and you end up not doing as you intended. Itβs like waiting for the ocean to be free of waves before you start sailing; unfortunately, it will never happen.
But how do we really navigate through the storms of life? You want to set sail, yet the waves seem to threaten you and force you to stay on the shore.
Until one day, Lyra and I were having a casual conversation with a couple we were discipling. The wife said, βGanun siguro talaga, we just learned to embrace the chaos.β
It was just one line, but somehow it made sense.
Life will never really normalize to the point that it looks like an ocean with no waves. It will always be chaotic; you just learn to embrace the chaos and move with the waves.
So go on, set sail. Embrace the chaos. Let the waves toss you back and forth, and if ever you fall off your boat. Remember that Jesus can walk on water.
