WHAT’S YOUR ROLE?

This photo was taken April of 2016. Ang babata pa namin noon. Ni hindi pa nga ako tinutubuan ng buhok.

That night, our production head called and asked me, “𝑀𝑖𝑘𝑒, 𝑘𝑎𝑖𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑎𝑛 𝑛𝑎𝑚𝑖𝑛 𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑠𝑎 𝑝𝑎𝑛𝑔 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑔𝑒 𝑎𝑐𝑡𝑜𝑟. 𝑃𝑤𝑒𝑑𝑒 𝑘𝑎 𝑏𝑎?” They need someone to play the role of a repentant sinner.

Making a fool of myself on stage was difficult for me back then because of my corporate position as a senior manager. With a bit of hesitation, I still said ‘yes’, hoping I could help drive the message of Velden, our guest preacher.

That stage is a mirror of our personal calling.

In our community, some are called to lead. Some are called to create. Some, to speak encouragement. Some, to just be a comforting presence. Some, to serve in quiet, unseen ways.

All of us were created with a special gift, placed in a unique stage, and a specific call.

In this stage called ‘life’, you may feel your role is small. Don’t compare your calling with others. 𝑩𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒃𝒚 𝑮𝒐𝒅 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂 𝒑𝒖𝒓𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇.

Ask yourself: am I obeying, or edging God out (e.g.o.)?

Friend, follow God, and the script written by our Ultimate Creator.

Big or small, play your role faithfully. Mother Teresa once said, “𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝒖𝒔 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒅𝒐 𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒘𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒅𝒐 𝒔𝒎𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆.”

You won’t regret this. Because at our curtain call, we will hear the only applause that would really matter:

“𝑾𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒅𝒐𝒏𝒆, 𝒎𝒚 𝒈𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒇𝒂𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒇𝒖𝒍 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒂𝒏𝒕!”- 𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒘 25:23
