I tried to look up the etymology of my real name, Jorge or George, in English, and I found out that it was rooted in the word โGeorgiosโ, which means earth worker, or in other words, Farmer.
My mom told me I wanted to be a farmer when I was four years old, until the day I visited a real farm and unfortunately had firsthand experience of smelling animal manure.
In my head, I was thinking, โHow can old Mcdonald simply sing Eeeyah eeyah ooh with all this smell around himโ
That was when I made up my mind I donโt want to be a farmer. I didnโt know what I wanted to be, I just donโt want to be a farmer.
Past forward, I ended up being a teacher for almost two decades. I saw my students grow up and grow old. And that is when it hit me. I did become a farmer, itโs just that the things I cultivated were not crops or livestock. It was knowledge. The knowledge passed from one student to another. Same with my role as a Feast Builder, I just keep on planting the seeds of faith and hoping that in due time they will grow, just like my Didache Reflection last July 23.
I just came home from the US, and I am happy to share that together with Bro. Junie, the Feast Builder of Texas we have planted Feast Houston with my Bro-in-law Marlon Lopez as the Feast Planter.
My dear friends, now may be the best time to ask God what is the meaning of your name and what is He asking you to do. Your name is not an accident; it is Godโs way of calling you. Live up to it.
If you have discovered the meaning of your name, feel free to write it in the comment section.
