TREASURES

Last night, after doing some errands from across the street, I chanced upon this man praying intently. Holding on to the glass casing of Mama Maryโ€™s image. It was a sight to behold, so I decided to capture the moment with my camera.

After which I decided to approach him and show him the photo I took, and our conversation went like this.

โ€œSir ano po yang paninda ninyo.โ€

โ€œSuman, kaso ubos na. Wala na kong maibebenta sayo. Hindi na sariwa yung nandyan.โ€ He replied

โ€œOk lang poโ€ I answered then I showed him my phone โ€œNakita ko po kayong nagdadasal at natuwa ako kaya pinicturan ko kayo. Matanong ko lang po ano bang pinagdasal ninyo?โ€ I asked

โ€œYung maging ligtas ba yung pamilya ko. Alam mo yung โ€˜the big oneโ€™ wag sana mangyari.โ€ Was his sincere answer.

โ€œOo nga po nakakatakot yun. Nga pala ako po si Bro. Oying dito rin po ako nagsisimba, pwede ko po ba kayong ipagdasal.โ€

I placed my hand on his shoulder and started praying for his family.

After which, he thanked me and went on his way.

As I went back to my car, I was thinking about the man I prayed for, after a days work of going around the village selling suman, he didnโ€™t pray for more sales or more money. He simply wanted his family to be safe.

Somehow God reminded me of the true treasures of this world, and that is our family.
