Last saturday as I served in Feast Alabang’s LG Heads Workshop, we were asked to hug as many people as we can. At first, I thought it was just a simple exercise, pero habang tumatagal, nag iiba ang feeling. Each hug felt like a reminder that we are not alone in this journey.
Napagtanto ko rin na minsan, hindi naman kailangan ng maraming salita. Words can sometimes fail us, lalo na kapag may pinagdadaanan. Pero yung simpleng presence, at yung yakap na galing sa puso, it can speak louder than any advice. Minsan isang mahigpit na yakap lang, sapat na para maramdaman mong may nagmamahal at may kasama ka.
For me, it became extra meaningful. Hanggang ngayon, I am still mourning the death of my mother. There are days na mabigat ang dibdib, and I struggle with the silence. Pero last saturday, when I gave and received hugs, parang may bigat na nabawas. Parang sinabi sa puso ko ni Lord, “You are not alone, I am sending people to comfort you.”
I realized that God uses even the simplest gestures—like a hug—to heal, to encourage, and to remind us of His presence. He is truly the God of comfort, and He works through the people around us.
A hug may look simple, pero sa puso, it can be life-giving. Kaya mula ngayon, I’ll treasure each hug—not just as a gesture, but as a reminder of God’s love and comfort.
