SAVED BY AN ANGEL

When I was 8 years old, my Parents and I had a motorcycle accident that I will never forget.

We had just attended a relative’s birthday party about an hour away from home. Our barangay was very secluded, and our town didn’t even have 24-hour electricity. The road was dark and dangerous. During the ride back home, my Papa complained that small insects were flying into the motorcycle light and getting into his eyes. Still, we continued driving.

I eventually fell asleep.

Suddenly, I opened my eyes and felt like I was floating. I can still remember the strange but peaceful feeling of slowly drifting through the air. I tried to look around, but it was too dark. Then I dropped, but it was a gentle fall beside a huge stone.

Then boom!

I heard the loud crash of the motorcycle. When I looked around, my Mama and Papa had already fallen, and I was about ten steps away from them. I followed the light coming from the motorcycle and crawled toward them. We had to walk because Papa obviously could no longer drive. I can’t even imagine how we managed to get home.

The next morning, my Papa was covered in bruises from head to toe, and Mama had bruises on her arms and knees.

But me, not a single scratch.

I’m still amazed by that encounter to this day. I know I was saved by an angel, and I truly believe when people say that angels protect children.

And then I found this verse:

“For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone.”
Psalm 91:11–12 (NLT)

I believe an angel held me up. I didn’t fall on the stone, I fell beside it. I still get goosebumps every time I tell this story and realize how perfectly it reflects that verse.

I hope we all find comfort in knowing, God is protecting us.
