We saw signs that our house was infected by rodents, so we set up a mouse trap behind the refrigerator. The next day, we were surprised to see not one, but two rats caught on the trap.
My husband and I were scared to pick up and throw the trap immediately as the rats were still alive and moving. We thought of leaving it until the house cleaner arrives the next day.
We went to the Feast that evening and when we returned home, we were surprised to see the trap empty. The rats were able to escape.
We placed another trap the following day and we were able to catch another one. Unfortunately, the house cleaner already left, and we had to wait until the next morning before we could throw it away.
Surprisingly, the mouse was still alive but did not manage to escape unlike the first two, so the cleaner was able to throw it out when she came the following morning.
I wondered why the second catch was not as lucky as the first two. Then I realized, maybe the first two found strength in each other and helped one another to escape. Unfortunately, the second mouse was caught single-handedly and probably no longer had the will to live.
Sounds familiar? We all need people to survive. As the old saying goes, “𝑁𝑜 𝑚𝑎𝑛 𝑖𝑠 𝑎𝑛 𝑖𝑠𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑑”. No matter how we isolate ourselves, we can never go through life alone.
The same is true with our faith. No Christian is a lone ranger. The moment we detach ourselves from real connections, we begin to starve and die spiritually.
