Last December 30th, I finished the book Rediscovering the Saints by Matthew Kelly. It was my 15th book for 2025. The book consists of 25 chapters that allow the reader to reflect on the lives of 25 Saints.
The first featured saint was St. Augustine, and the reflection was about having a beautiful future despite being a sinner, a future that is prepared for us by the Lord. Each and every chapter was a wonderful discovery about the lives of different Saints and how we can relate their lives to my everyday life. It was a very short read at 118 pages, but it was very powerful.
The last chapter spoke about the value of living in the βNowβ or living in the present. The book says we are all called to be saints; the only difference between the saints and us is that they lived up to that moment. That Holy Moment where they are both physically and mentally present. Unfortunately for most of us, somehow the chance simply slips away. When everything is now on-demand, and multi-tasking is the norm. It is hard to focus on the present. We are physically there but mentally somewhere else.
We can all be saints in our own little ways, because that is what is called of us. To create those Holy Moments one task at a time, one day at a time, one month at a time until we can say we have lived up to the calling we were meant to be.
