MISSILES OVERHEAD

By Charm Dogma

Last March 1, 2026, people across the Middle East were startled by phone alerts warning of explosions. Videos soon circulated showing air defense systems lighting up the night sky. According to the π‘‡β„Žπ‘’ π‘‡π‘–π‘šπ‘’π‘  π‘œπ‘“ πΌπ‘›π‘‘π‘–π‘Ž (π‘€π‘Žπ‘Ÿπ‘β„Ž 1, 2026), Iran launched ballistic missiles and drones toward several countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan.

Worried, I reached out to family and friends in the UAE. My cousin who works at Dubai International Airport told me she had already left for the day, as workers were advised not to report to work and to prepare basic supplies. They were grateful that someone checked on them.

This incident reminds me of the Gospel of the calming of the storm in 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐀 πŸ’:πŸ‘πŸ“β€“πŸ’πŸ. When a storm struck the boat on the Sea of Galilee, the disciples panicked even though Jesus Christ was with them. Yet when they called on Him, the storm was calmed.

In moments of fear and uncertainty, this Gospel reminds us that even when God seems silent, He remains with us, inviting us to hold on to faith and hope that the storms of violence will one day give way to peace.Β πŸ™
