Pardon me for this Valentineās flex. Iāll start with a clichĆ©: there are many love stories in the world, but ours is my favorite. Let me share the story of Dean and Beth.
It started ābadā ⦠Beth, my wife, got pregnant while we were not yet married. We lived together extramaritally. For five years we fought constantly. The arguments grew longer, while our patienceāand the intervals of peaceāgrew shorter.
Noong 2020, we decided to get married. (Or in Bethās mindāI finally started making good on my promise.) Civil wedding lang sana. We started looking for courts or judges, but it was the middle of the pandemicāsarado, walang bookings. Parang hopeless ang case.
Until a guard told us to try Kawit City Hall. We went. There we met a person they called āBishop.ā He interviewed us, and we were able to set a wedding date. āBishopā was not just an ordinary man commissioned to wed couples. He was actually a Catholic priest.
On our wedding day, we expected a civil weddingābut God didnāt want that for us. We may have started in sin, but He wanted us to restart our family life with Himāwith a commission from Him.
On that day, it wasnāt only our love for each other that showedāmore importantly, Godās love showed. He gave us a church sacrament instead. For me, He reclaimed us for Him and for the family mission He is going to give us. He no longer wanted us to live in sin but to live with Him and for Him. Yun pala yung feeling of being chased by Godās love.
