Last Easter Sunday, Bro. Bo Sanchez spoke about finding God in the Ordinary. How God speaks in human signs that we sometimes neglect as we search for extraordinary signs.
It reminded me of a story of a man who was living in a flood-prone area. The rain started to pour, and the floodwaters started to rise. One neighbor with a pick-up truck asked him if we wanted a ride going to the higher grounds, but he replied: βNo, thank you, God will save me.β The rain continued to pour harder, and the floodwater was now up to his chest. Rescuers on a boat arrived, but he refused, saying, βGod will rescue me.β The rain continued to pour, and the water had filled the entire house, so he decided to go to the roof. Rescuers in a helicopter saw him and tried to rescue him. But again he refused, saying, βGod will rescue me.β The water kept rising, and he eventually drowned. In heaven, he saw God and asked him, βWhy did you not rescue me?β
God replied, βI tried rescuing you, in fact, I tried it three times: your neighbor with the pick up truck, the man with the boat, and the rescuers in the helicopter.β
Many times, we try to see God in majestic and extraordinary forms. We want God to speak to us through a burning bush when the message from your spouse, parent, or boss is as clear as the sun that God is speaking to you.
Allow Him to speak to you in the everyday, ordinary, and sometimes mundane things you do.
May you enjoy hearing His voice.
