HE KNOWS MY NAME

I recently crossed paths with a friend I hadn’t spoken to in many years. Life had gently pulled us in different directions. She pursued her master’s degree, while I poured my heart into raising my little family.

There was no falling out, just seasons changing. Still, when we finally met for dinner last December, it felt as though time had folded in on itself and we were simply picking up where we left off.

She gave me a simple gift: a pen, carefully carved with my name. It wasn’t extravagant, but it moved me deeply. Despite the years of silence, she remembered my name. In that small, thoughtful gesture, I was reminded of something far greater…how God knows my name, not just as a label, but with every story, sacrifice, joy, and hidden prayer attached to it.

Scripture beautifully captures this truth:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name, you are mine.” -Isaiah 43:1

Just as my friend remembered me beyond the lost time, God never forgets us, even when life distracts us or pulls us away. He calls us by name – personally, intentionally, lovingly. And perhaps the reminder for all of us is this: you are seen, you are remembered, and you are deeply known by the One who holds every season of your life.
