The sign says, “15 pull-ups and you will get FREE COFFEE”. There is a pull-up challenge inside a native coffee shop in the middle of Sagada forest.
Let’s cut the story short. I handed over P 200 to the barista.
Since I wasn’t successful with the pull- up challenge, I thought of transitioning into a “dead- hang”. I read many wonderful things about dead- hangs.
Dead- hang is hanging freely from an overhead bar for as long as you can. Health experts say the dead- hang improves your grip strength, and decompresses your spine. It is good for those who usually spend a lot of time sitting. Spending time doing dead-hangs daily can be beneficial to overall health.
“π΅π’π‘ π€π’ππ π π πππππ‘π’ππ πππππ’πππ‘π¦, ππππ. πβπ¦ ππ’π π ππππ’π‘ βππππ‘β?”
Because your body is a blessing. It is sacred. To neglect the body is to neglect what God made. If your physical body is destined to be taken up to heaven, we cannot treat it like trash. We must honor and take care of it. Thus, we must nourish and strengthen it.
Caring for your body is not the end goal though. The end goal is to love God with all your strength. I bike, hike, and dead- hang because I want to serve Jesus for many years.
Itβs my response to what He did.
Jesus did the most difficult “dead- hang” for you and me.
Our body + soul was purchased with the highest price: Jesus’ own life.
