CLOTHED IN FAITH, ROOTED IN LOVE

Sixteen years ago, this photo was taken quietly, without knowing how sacred it would become. We stood as a family, dressed in white and blue, resembling Our Lady of Lourdes. Simple garments, yet filled with meaning. Mama stood beside me (with the headband on), steady and gentle, the heart that held us together. Behind us was the image of Our Lady, as if watching over our family then, and still watching over us now.

Mama raised us not only to attend mass, but to serve. At San Roque de Alabang Parish, she introduced us to the Confraternity of Our Lady of Lourdes, teaching us that faith is best expressed through action.

As children, we became mass collectors during the offertory. I was only three or four years old, barely understanding the task, yet already learning the beauty of offering time, effort and self to God.

This month, as I remember the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes and Mama’s death anniversary, I realize how deeply her spiritual leadership shaped who we are today. Her faith did not end with her passing, it continues to guide us.

May we never underestimate the quiet power of a parent’s faith. What we pass on in love can echo for generations and the faith we live out at home becomes a legacy.

“The righteous who walk in integrity—blessed are the children who follow them.”
— Proverbs 20:7
