3AM of June 17, and I’m still up, racking my brains for my anniversary talk. You see I already planned what to do as early as Wednesday last week. I even interviewed people whose lives were changed by WFA, but come Sunday, June 14, 4 days before the anniversary, my co-preacher had a family emergency which led him beg-off from co-preaching.
So here I am trying to pull an all-nighter to finish and hoping to come up with something, even just an outline for the Anniversary talk. And after 30 minutes of mental exercise it was still a blank page. Nothing. Nada. Kaput.
“What do I tell them?” I asked myself.
I paused for a while, and that is when it occurred to me. How could I forget what I always say before I preach. “Lord, please let me speak what You want me to say and may they hear what You want to say.”
It was a lightbulb moment. A 300-watt light bulb moment. Why did I forget that? That should’ve been the first question that I asked.
“Lord, what do you want me to tell them?”
Most of our series talks are written by Bro. Bo and the bible nerds, but on special occasions like these, I get to write my own talk.
As we celebrate our anniversary with the theme of Corner Stone, may Jesus be the corner stone or our lives, where all our decisions are based.
