REFRAME

by Mike Sanchez

Years ago, I was leading a group of men every Friday night in Light Group sessions.

Discipleship, at the beginning, is discouraging, especially when your “planting” efforts seem to be producing no “fruit”.

I realized I was not seeing it the way God sees it.

Fast forward to 2026, the men in this photo are now active servants, light group leaders, and ministry leaders.

What changed? How did this happen?

It’s like when someone is looking too close to an artwork on a canvas. All he sees are blurred strokes and clashing colors, not the entire artwork.

Personally, I need to reframe: step back, zoom out, and see it from another perspective. The God perspective.

REFRAME # 1: With the guidance of my community leaders, I have to be comfortable with the “messiness” of men (by not forgetting, I’m messy too!)

REFRAME # 2: Leading someone to Christ is a process and a journey. As the saying goes, “it takes an entire village to raise a child”. I’m thankful to the entire Feast family, its systems and culture which are instrumental to their growth.

REFRAME # 3: I’m a servant, not their savior. I included these men in my prayer, surrendering to God to do the changing.

I might be the one who plants the seed, the one who waters it, but God will eventually handle its growth.

My role is just to simply love them, as this is what Jesus did, reminding myself that God loves these people more than I do.
