For 8 months, my husband and I stayed at my parentsβ house after our own house got flooded last year. It was a blessing that we had the opportunity to spend quality time with my parents for the past months.
But just recently, we decided to come back home while the rainy season is still far off. Since our house is in a flood-prone area, we plan to have it elevated. We are in the process of applying for a housing loan and intend to return to my parentsβ house once the renovation commences.
After moving all our stuff back to our place, we temporarily said goodbye to my parents with mixed emotionsβgrateful that they have accommodated us and partly sad because we will miss them.
Since we would be back in no time once our house renovation starts, my mom teasingly sang the song βππππππππππβ by ππΆπ¬π’π΄ ππ’ππ’π₯. It was one of the songs that we used to sing when we were serving in the parish choir.

The song was inspired by the story of Hosea in the Bible. His love to his unfaithful wife, Gomer, is likened to the love of God for His people.
Just as the doors of my parentsβ home remain open for us, our heavenly Father always longs for us to come back home. No matter how long we have been away or how far we have wandered off, His arms are always widely open to give us a loving embrace.
