This Crucifix and Mary in my room means more to me than what meets the eye.
It is a wooden crucifix designed with a carved inset on the cross where the body of Christ perfectly fits. The corpus is made separately and is fully detachable, allowing it to be placed or removed from the carved cross. Unlike a regular crucifix where the body is permanently fixed, this one is intentionally crafted so the figure of Jesus can be lifted out, revealing the image still engraved or outlined in the wood. Even when the body of Christ is removed, the cross remains – a powerful symbol of our salvation.
And hanging on it is a necklace of the Miraculous Medal of the Blessed Virgin Mary—once worn by my mother.
That necklace was more than just an accessory to her. It was a quiet reminder of her deep faith—her trust that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was always interceding for us. She would wear it especially during difficult ones, always with calm confidence that God was just nearby.
Now that she’s gone, it continues to hang there. And it tells a story of a mother and a child, walking together through life…
This cross and necklace symbolize the sacrifices we both shared—the long nights, the silent prayers, the unseen battles we fought together. It speaks of her love, her strength, and her unshakable faith.
Because even in sorrow, I hold on to God’s promise—His promise of a new beginning for those who trust in Him.
I walk into this new life with my head held high. Not because the pain is gone, but because I know I’m not walking alone. God is with me, and He is faithful.
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” — Revelation 21:4
