SPIRITUAL BATTLE

I wasn’t expecting this in Better-living, Paranaque, and in a decent-looking spa.

Years ago, I went for a massage on Dona Soledad Street in Better-living. In the middle of the service, the lady masseur offered a π‘™π‘–π‘›π‘”π‘”π‘Žπ‘š service.

πΏπ‘–π‘›π‘”π‘”π‘Žπ‘š is a sensual massage; it’s an indecent proposal.

I have already left my old life by this time and regularly attend The Feast.

I immediately changed the topic, which is totally unrelated to her proposition, geared towards knowing her story.

She is a single mom, driven away from Cebu by a failed relationship. She is single-handedly raising a baby boy herself.

She reminded me of my past. She reminded me of my own capacity for sin. She reminded me of my own spiritual battles.

My battles left scars all over my life.

Scars, in a way, are good. They humble me. Scars remind me that by myself, I can’t win these battles alone. That I was only able to win because of the grace of God.

Friend, equip yourself for the battle. Strengthen your relationship with Jesus. Pray without ceasing. Have friends who won’t judge you, but instead, lead you to God. Read God’s word, which is the light on our feet, and our compass that guides our choices.

Remember that your life is constantly being shaped by your choices, influenced by spiritual forces we do not see.

PS: I invited her to The Feast after the massage service. I pray that Christ sets her free. I pray for strength she needs to raise her family. I pray she comes by one of these days.
