Sometimes, when I look at my turtle tank, it appears clean on the surface. But I know the truth β deep inside, it needs a full cleaning. The moment I begin stirring the water and shifting the bottom, the dirt begins to rise, and the water turns cloudy. Only then can I start scooping out the old water and making room for the new.
In the same way, God works in our lives. When it is time for renewal, He stirs us. At first, all the hidden dirt of our hearts rises to the surface β our wounds, our struggles, our secrets. But this is not to harm us; it is Godβs way of preparing us for healing.
He purifies us, cleanses us, and restores us. And once His work is complete, our soul shines again β fresh, whole, and filled with His life.
βCreate in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.β (Psalm 51:10)
