A tiny pebble doesnât seem as damaging compared to big rocks. But one day, while cruising along the freeway, a small pebble suddenly hit our windshieldâand crash! The glass shattered into thousands of tiny pieces. I was really upset, knowing we now had to spend money to replace it. Yes, I was upsetâbut it wasnât anyoneâs fault. It was just an accident.
Later, during my quiet time, I brought the incident before God. As I reflected, I realized something: it wasnât the pebble that caused the major damageâit was the speed we were going. A car moving slowly, hit by the same pebble, would probably not have shattered. And as I sat with that thought, I sensed the Lord whisper, âSlow down.â
If your life is moving at 70 to 80 miles per hour, even a tiny trialâjust a small âpebbleââcan feel like it shatters your life into pieces. Is your life running beyond your control? Slow down.
Do you feel like youâre spinning like a topâgoing from meeting to meeting, event to event, errand to errand, family gathering to family gathering? Slow down. Take time to pray.
Thatâs exactly how I felt at the time. I was overwhelmed with my schedule and all the things I had to do, and I realized I was neglecting my prayer time. Thank you, Lord, for reminding me to slow down and to immerse myself more in Your presence.
