This photo of Steph Curry (in dark blue) guarded by 2 big French basketball players was taken from the 2024 Paris Olympics. This extremely difficult 3-point shot went in.
The shot sealed the USA team win over France in the basketball gold medal match.
Many French were so angry with Steph Curry, that McDonald’s France said it is contemplating on removing the “curry sauce” off its menu until the next Olympics.
Millions were shocked or ecstatic with Steph’s 3-point shot. But not his coach Steve Kerr. Why? Curry’s longtime NBA coach has witnessed the same scene so many times, especially during private practice.
We live in a world obsessed with the visible– the public win, the visible fruit. But the critical work always happens unseen.
Like a massive tree, your private life is your root system.
The 3-point shots, the victories, the fruits– these are just a public result of a private reality.
Friend, grow your root system:
1. Spend time with God, even when no one is watching.
2. Do the right thing, even when short-cuts seem more convenient.
3. Be honest when a lie would have been easier.
4. Say no to temptations.
True character is not built on a stage when many are watching; it is built in those private moments.
If you feel like your prayers are unanswered, or your integrity feels unnoticed—do not lose heart. Be patient. God listens. God notices. Your harvest is coming. But first, your roots must become deep. Trust what God is doing in private.
Soon, you’ll be able to make that 3-point shot.
